Analysis of multimodal narratives in distant educational contexts(2024) Ow Gonzalez, Maili Solange; Bernales Silva, Margarita Maria; Lopez Barreda, Rodrigo Alonso; Cunto-Amesty, Silvia; Claro Garcia-atance, Juan CarlosObjective:To understandexperiences with the COVID of 45 children and adolescents from three countries: Chad, Chile and the USA, in order to 'read-listen' to their voices, understand their worlds and verify the relevance of the 'local' component. Theoretical Framework:A critical perspective on how the adult world relates to and understands children is proposed. Concepts such as visions of childhood and adultcentrism; education in the context of crisis, narrative coherence and multidimensional well-being are addressed.Method:Case study, with participants between 5 and 18 years of age. Data collection was through the application of a writing task that invited to explain what COVID-19 is and to recommend how to prevent it.Results and Discussion:The results reveal that the variability in the social determinants of health, in terms of income level, culture and health policies, modified the experience of the same phenomenon, with different representations of the adult world, expression of the protection strategies or repercussions in the lives of the participants.Research Implications:The use of multimodal narrative analysis methodology is appropriate for data collection because it allows us to know, through the participants' own expressive resources, how they were affected by the pandemic. Originality/Value:The interdisciplinary approach of health and education, as well as the consideration of diverse sociocultural contexts, raises questions and challenges for the future, such as greater attention and protection in the messages of care and self-care towards integral wellbeing, reducing the feeling of uncertainty and fear
