- ItemTHE LEXICAL-GRAMMAR CONSTRUCTION OF HISTORICAL MEANING IN CHILEAN TEXTBOOKS(UNIV CONCEPCION, FAC HUMANIDADES ARTE, 2016) Pinuer Rodriguez, Claudio; Oteiza Silva, TeresaIn this paper the communicative capacity of grammar in the construction of pedagogical discourse of history is evaluated examining the contribution of adverbs ending in -mente (category), nominalization (construction) and sentence order (taxeme) in the discursive representation of recent history of Chile. To do this, we analyze the role of these factors in the representation of actors, events, processes and circumstances selected in history textbooks to describe the government of Salvador Allende (1970-1973), the coup d'Etat (1973) and the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990). Our concern for textbooks lies in their importance as official instruments of memory, because the interest in these historical periods is related to their important role in the transmission of a traumatic past to new generations. The analysis reveals, first, the potential of the adverb, nominalization and sentence discursive order to produce discursive meanings and, secondly, the construction of historicizing patterns from these capabilities.
- ItemThe Linear Factor in the Construction of Evaluative Meaning in the Discourse(SERVICIO PUBL UNIV NAVARRA, 2013) Pinuer Rodriguez, Claudio; Oteiza Silva, TeresaThis article presents the results of a study about the influence of sentence order in the construction of intersubjective meaning, particularly at the level of valorative logogenesis that derives from the form and frequency by which diverse actors, events and circumstances are presented in the Prologue of the Informe Valech (Valech Report), an official document of Human Rights in Chile. First, the research examines the sentence layout from 12 linear principles according to their nature, hierarchy and relationship. The results of this stage indicate that the linear appearance syntactically manifests processes of activation and desactivation of grammatical, cognitive, semantic and informative principles.
