- ItemAnálisis del ciclo de vida del cobre en una operación minera de hidrometalurgia en la zona central de Chile(2024) Meza Chevecich, Carolina Alejandra; Videla Leiva, Álvaro Rodrigo; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaLa metodología de Análisis de Ciclo de Vida o Life Cycle Assessment (LCA, en inglés) ha sido aplicada en diferentes industrias. Sin embargo, en la ruta de procesamiento hidrometalúrgica de cobre, aún no ha sido ampliamente estudiada y existe escasez de datos e información al respecto, especialmente en Chile. Un LCA tiene la particularidad de ser una herramienta integral que permite estudiar los impactos generados al ambiente producto de las actividades desempeñadas en la elaboración de un producto y/o servicio. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este estudio es cuantificar, por medio de un análisis de ciclo de vida, los impactos ambientales generados por la vía hidrometalúrgica del cobre por etapa en una operación ubicada en la zona central de Chile. Las categorías de impacto e indicadores por evaluar son el potencial de calentamiento global (GWP), potencial de acidificación (AP), potencial de creación de ozono fotoquímico (POCP), formación de material particulado (PMF), demanda acumulada de energía (CED), y uso de agua (WU). Para llevar a cabo esto, se utilizará Microsoft Excel para realizar los balances y la cuantificación de las categorías, además de Tableau como herramienta de visualización de los resultados. Estos, mostraron que las categorías más estudiadas son las de potencial de calentamiento global, potencial de acidificación y demanda acumulada de energía. Además, los resultados obtenidos se encuentran dentro de los rangos registrados en la literatura. Específicamente en la categoría de potencial de calentamiento global, se pudo observar el aporte significativo de las emisiones indirectas en comparación a las directas, expresado en dióxido de carbono equivalente por cátodo de cobre producido (tCO2-e /tCu). Finalmente, aún existe el desafío de incluir otras categorías de impacto ambiental como la eutrofización, la toxicidad, y aquellos relacionados a la pérdida de la biodiversidad, además de incluir aspectos sostenibles que puedan dar una mirada holística al desempeño de las operaciones en la minería del cobre.
- ItemAnálisis multicriterio para la evaluación de regulación energética en recursos energéticos distribuidos(2024) Galilea Martínez, María José; Negrete Pincetic, Matías Alejandro; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaEn respuesta a la crisis climática los países han planteado diversas estrategias regulatorias para la transición energética. Dada la relación entre el sistema eléctrico y el mercado, las regulaciones que rigen el segundo tienen un impacto importante en qué tecnologías se desarrollan y la velocidad con la que se realizan cambios al sistema. Luego, resulta necesario evaluar las regulaciones implementadas. Para ello, se identificaron en la literatura las principales metodologías, entre las que destaca el uso de análisis multicriterio para la evaluación energética. En particular este análisis se ha utilizado en políticas generales de inversión en tecnologías o mixes de generación y localización de plantas. Además, se analizaron los casos de Alemania, España, Reino Unido y Chile con enfoque en las políticas implementadas para el desarrollo de recursos energéticos distribuidos (DERs) y comunidades energéticas. En base a esto, se identificaron los principales criterios utilizados por la literatura y los elementos propios de los recursos distribuidos que deben considerarse para su incorporación al sistema. Estos se ordenaron en base a los criterios: técnico, económico, sociopolítico y ambiental. Luego, lo criterios fueron utilizados para la evaluación del programa Comuna Energética implementado en Chile desde el año 2015. La evaluación destacó la importancia de la existencia de señales de localización en las regulaciones de DERs, no incorporadas actualmente. Además, se encontró que el programa entrega la posibilidad de mejorar la visibilidad de los recursos distribuidos, ha favorecido el desarrollo del mercado y se encuentra alineado con los objetivos climáticos del país. La evaluación implementada permite proponer mejoras al programa y evaluar sus siguientes versiones, además de analizar otro tipo de regulaciones relacionadas con DERs. Es de esperar que el desarrollo de recursos distribuidos continúe al alza, por lo que resulta importante mejorar la incorporación de los recursos energéticos distribuidos al sistema.
- ItemOptimal Control of the Modular Multilevel Matrix Converter with Distributed Energy Storage for Grid Supply and Machine Drives(2024) Gajardo Rojas, José Ignacio; Pereda Torres, Javier Eduardo; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaLa integración de sistemas de almacenamiento híbridos desempeña un papel fundamental en el aprovechamiento de energías renovables, la electrificación de procesos y el fortalecimiento de la red eléctrica. Los conversores de potencia juegan un papel crucial al posibilitar la integración de nuevas tecnologías. En este contexto, los conversores modulares multinivel en cascada están siendo objeto de estudios recientes debido a sus beneficios en la incorporación de sistemas de almacenamiento a la red. Destaca el conversor modular multinivel matricial (M3C), que esta ganando popularidad gracias a su capacidad para ofrecer las ventajas de un conversor multinivel y la conexión directa entre dos redes de corriente alterna (AC). Además, este conversor facilita la integración de un sistema de almacenamiento distribuido (DES) en sus sub-módulos, simplificando la gestión de las fuentes de energía. A pesar de sus notables beneficios, este tipo de aplicación especıfica del conversor no ha alcanzado una amplia popularidad en el ámbito académico. Esta tesis se enfoca en examinar la integración de un DES mediante un algoritmo de control fundamentado en el desequilibrio de potencia inter-clúster en el M3C. En una primera fase, se lleva a cabo un análisis de las ecuaciones delineadas en investigaciones recientes, seguido de un desarrollo matemático para deducir las ecuaciones de corriente y las expresiones de potencia instantánea. Por último, se formula un método de control optimo basado en cada sistema de ecuaciones propuesto. El sistema de control propuesto se evalúa inicialmente mediante simulaciones y posteriormente se valida en un entorno experimental. Esta validación incluye la inyección de potencia a la red eléctrica y la operación de un motor a velocidad variable, todo ello en conjunto con un desequilibrio de potencia inter-clúster.
