Instituto de Estudios Urbanos y TerritorialesLa tesis explora los factores que explican la distancia entre los modelos ideales de ciudad, expresados en planes reguladores y grandes proyectos, y la urbe real que se construye todos los días. Luego de una revisión de casos y bibliografías, se plantean hipotesis para explicar este contraste - que denomino "urbanismo paralelo"- y que se relaciona con la crisis de la planificación racionalista y la emergencia de los esquemas de gestión flexible y administración de grandes proyectos urbanos. A partir de ello, la tesis propone una aplicación de un nuevo sistema de planificación urbana para la ciudad de Santiago, que busca acercar las propuestas de los instrumentos a las problemáticas que sufren los ciudadanos, con mecanismos operativos que incorporan la planificación por condiciones, incentivos normativos y grandes proyectos urbanos.

Escuela de IngenieríaLas estrategias de marketing centradas en la relación con el consumidor ha sido una herramienta fundamental a la hora de lograr objetivos como la fidelización y retención de clientes. En este sentido, los programas de lealtad han demostrado ser un poderoso medio para lograr dichos objetivos. En este contexto, la presente investigación tiene como fin mostrar una metodología de análisis y entendimiento de la evaluación de este tipo de estrategias, para así contribuir al buen manejo de estas. Se utilizaron los datos transaccionales de un programa de lealtad de un conocido banco chileno para desarrollar dos problemas; de participación en el programa y elección de premios, en donde se utilizó un modelo logit basado en preferencias reveladas. Por otro lado, se aplicó una encuesta de preferencias declaradas y fue calibrado un modelo logit simple. El desarrollo se inicia con el problema de participación que habla de la identificación de los clientes que participan en el programa. Luego se verificó el efecto que tienen los premios indirectos en la motivación de los clientes por los programas de lealtad a través de preferencias declaradas.
- ItemProyecto: “Experiencia en el contexto escolar del uso de diversos medios de comunicación y su elaboración por parte de niños de 6 a 8 años para la promoción de hábitos alimentarios y de actividad física”: la importancia de la elaboración y uso del periódico y la radio por los niños como metodología de aprendizaje(2007) Humeres Flores, Paulina; Godoy Etcheverry, Sergio; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Facultad de ComunicacionesEl objetivo de este proyecto de tesis fue promover una alimentación adecuada y la realización de actividad física, mediante un trabajo aplicado con medios de comunicación. El público objetivo fueron niños de 1º y 2º básico, con sus respectivas familias. La temática abordada se fundamenta en la realidad epidemiológica que vive la población infantil actualmente. La Encuesta Nacional de Salud arrojó que 22,4% de los escolares menores de 6 años tiene exceso de sobrepeso. A fines de los 80 sólo un 8% de los escolares de 1º básico era obeso. Hoy la prevalencia en los menores entre 6 y 16 años subió de un 3% a casi el 20%. En los programas gubernamentales, las comunicaciones son consideradas claves, sin embargo no se aprovecha su potencial, si consideramos la gran penetración que tienen en la vida de las personas. Además de los fundamentos comunicacionales y educativos, el uso de herramientas del marketing social fue un aporte adicional al proyecto pues permitió focalizar los destinatarios, determinar con exactitud el problema concreto, potenciar el uso de medios con la comunicación personal y establecer objetivos mensurables. Los niños fueron los protagonistas de este proceso, basando su aprendizaje en una metodología constructivista y de aprendizaje significativo. El uso de los medios fue la base del proyecto. Los de 1º básico elaboraron un periódico y los de 2º básico realizaron programas radiales. En el caso de los padres, se usó la página Web, la revista del colegio y envío de material escrito a casa. Como productos finales del proyecto, se diseñó un link en la página web del colegio, denominado “La Tropa de la Buena Salud”, tres programas radiales y un periódico por curso en 2º y 1º básico respectivamente. También la publicación de un artículo sobre el proyecto en la revista del colegio. Las principales conclusiones del proyecto son: a) cuando los niños son protagonistas de su aprendizaje es posible alcanzar logros más concretos de cambio en actitudes b) el uso de diversos medios de comunicación al servicio del aprendizaje potencian los resultados de proyectos de esta naturaleza, siempre y cuando se tenga claridad de su uso y cuáles son los objetivos que se persiguen c) se demostró que la elaboración de los medios por los propios destinatarios es una herramienta eficaz de cambio en hábitos d) la relevancia que tiene la interacción de la promoción, de la comunicación, la educación y el marketing social en proyectos de cambio social.

- ItemTransformaciones socio-territoriales en el Área Metropolitana de Santiago : el aumento de la feminización de la fuerza de trabajo(2007) Yañez Warner, Gloria; Rebolledo, Loreto; Mattos, Carlos A. de; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Instituto de Estudios Urbanos y TerritorialesEsta tesis plantea como la reestructuración económica ha afectado a varones y a mujeres de forma bastante diferente. Los elementos determinantes de la progresiva inserción de la mujer en el mercado de trabajo no se pueden abstraer de la dinámica de los fenómenos de globalización o mundialización. El predominio de las redes de intercambios a escala mundial de la producción y el consumo, de los flujos de capital, de las mercancías, de la cultura y las desigualdades y, por consiguiente, de la fuerza de trabajo, van configurando desde hace tres décadas una problemática compleja, en la cual la “feminización del trabajo” es uno de sus aspectos. La división sexual del trabajo hace referencia al reparto social de tareas o actividades según el sistema sexo género, aunque varía según las sociedades y las épocas históricas. El reparto de “actividades” no sería tan significativo si no fuera sistemáticamente acompañado de una valoración diferencial, esto es, jerarquizada, y si no tuviera fuertes y claras repercusiones en las condiciones de vida (Gómez Bueno, 2001:5). Los estudios de “mujeres” han demostrado con claridad que la jerarquización ocupacional no es aleatoria ni inocente (el ocupado estable forma parte de una categoría social superior a la del resto de la población activa). La prueba más evidente es que en todos los países europeos son los varones (adultos) quienes preferentemente tienen un empleo estable y a tiempo completo, mientras que las mujeres se ven asignadas mucho más que los primeros a categorías de empleo de nivel inferior. Esto queda registrado en la evolución de las tasas de participación económica de unos y otros y en los cambiantes esquemas de empleo en sectores y profesiones según sexo, además de los cambios en los salarios relativos. La incorporación a los mercados de trabajo en forma sostenida de las mujeres y su importante participación en el proceso de industrialización apoyando de manera decisiva el desarrollo de los servicios y el comercio en las últimas décadas, a pesar de ello, las mujeres siguen en una posición de subordinación. Este fenómeno se puede apreciar, según diversos estudios, en la distribución de los salarios a lo largo de los diferentes puestos de trabajo y las diferentes profesiones, en sus ingresos, su vulnerabilidad durante las recurrentes crisis económicas y su desproporcionada responsabilidad ante el cuidado de la familia y los deberes domésticos. Por esto es que el aporte de la perspectiva del género en el planeamiento y las políticas urbanas en general tiene una importancia relevante, sobre todo al realizar una mirada territorial y espacial del tema.

Escuela de IngenieríaLa localización es un problema clave para la robótica móvil. Lograr una localización eficiente y robusta no es una tarea fácil, dado que un incremento en la robustez, implica una caída en la eficiencia y viceversa. Una forma de mejorar el proceso de localización es mediante la introducción de una estrategia de localización activa, en donde varios de los trabajos desarrollado se basan en la utilización del mismo movimiento del robot para lograr el comportamiento deseado. En este trabajo proponemos una estrategia de localización con sensores visuales activos. En nuestra propuesta separamos la acción de desplazamiento, de la acción de observación del robot. Para lograr esta separación, necesitamos la introducción de una etapa donde el robot sea capaz de seleccionar la mejor acción de observación posible, recurriendo a la ganancia de información para realizar la búsqueda de las posibles acciones.Así, la selección se plantea como la búsqueda de la acción más informativa para el proceso de localización.
- ItemIncorporación de energía eólica en la planificación de la transmisión y operación de sistemas hidrotérmicos(2008) Raby Heresi, Mauricio Andrés; Ríos Marcuello, Sebastián; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaEl principal objetivo de la presente investigación consiste en incorporar la energía eólica en la planificación de la transmisión de sistemas hidrotérmicos en el mediano y largo plazo. La creciente conexión de grandes parques eólicos en la red hace que sea necesario contar con una modelación adecuada de estas fuentes para reflejar correctamente su efecto en la expansión de la transmisión, en los precios de la energía, en los embalses y en los generadores convencionales. La capacidad de transmisión, al condicionar la operación del sistema, corresponde al elemento clave que determina el balance económico entre la eficiencia operacional de corto plazo y el desarrollo óptimo de la red de mediano y largo plazo. Por lo tanto, en el presente trabajo se realiza una representación de las centrales eólicas en un modelo de simulación de la operación que utiliza la técnica de Programación Dinámica Dual Estocástica para resolver el problema de optimización. Este modelo es capaz de simular un sistema eléctrico hidrotérmico, con múltiples embalses y múltiples nodos. Los parques eólicos se incluyen a través de nueva modelación del sistema eléctrico que permita reflejar las variaciones horarias del viento (corto plazo) en simulaciones de mediano y largo plazo (10 años) para estudios de planificación de la transmisión.
- ItemConciliación entre la eficiencia energética y las empresas de distribución de electricidad.(2008) Alvarez Danker, Federico Sebastián; Rudnick Van de Wyngard, Henry; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaEsta tesis tiene como objetivo el analizar el impacto que tendría en el segmento de distribución de electricidad, la implementación de nuevas políticas de eficiencia energética (EE), a través de mecanismos regulatorios e incentivos financieros que logren conciliar los intereses de las empresas distribuidoras y el regulador. Para alcanzar este objetivo se desarrolla un modelo por fronteras de eficiencia basado en el análisis envolvente de datos, para medir el desempeño de las empresas de distribución frente a los nuevos mecanismos regulatorios. La metodología utilizada adapta los resultados obtenidos en la experiencia internacional, para posteriormente comparar e identificar el índice de eficiencia alcanzado para cada esquema de regulación. Este análisis se realiza para cuatro distribuidoras representativas de industria chilena, las que se enfrentan a diversos niveles o metas en eficiencia energética propuesta por el regulador. Los resultados obtenidos dejan en evidencia que la utilización de los certificados blancos para promover la eficiencia energética siempre obtiene el mejor resultado en el desempeño de las distribuidoras logrando eliminar los desincentivos con el menor impacto económico. Al comprar los mecanismos de desacople entre los volúmenes e ingresos por venta de energía, contra la obligación de invertir el 1% de los ingresos en EE. El primero obtiene mejores resultados, siempre que el regulador proponga metas de EE menores al 4% anual, en cambio para valores mayores, el segundo mecanismo resulta ser más efectivo respecto al impacto en el desempeño global de las distribuidoras.
- ItemComparación de la producción de compuestos aromáticos por cepas de levaduras vínicas comerciales(2008) Guadalupe Medina, Víctor Gabriel; Agosin T., Eduardo; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaLa satisfacción de las preferencias del consumidor es el principal objetivo al elaborar un vino hoy en día. El aroma es el elemento principal en la diferenciación de los vinos y una forma de influir en él es la elección de la levadura para llevar a cabo la fermentación alcohólica. Existe una amplia oferta de éstas en el mercado, cada una presentada como única en sus características fermentativas y organolépticas. El presente trabajo se centra en la comparación de la contribución al aroma del vino realizada por distintas cepas comerciales de levaduras vínicas a través de tres aproximaciones experimentales: análisis químico, sensorial, y olfatométrico. Esto fue estudiado en fermentaciones de escala laboratorio en mosto sintético con el fin de aislar la contribución aromática de los compuestos sintetizados por la levadura.
- ItemUna heurística robusta para la planificación de la producción : desarrollo y aplicación a un caso real(2008) Carrillo Higueras, Franz Joaquín; Maturana Valderrama, Sergio; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaDentro de los sistemas productivos existen muchos eventos inesperados que hacen interrumpir y atrasar el normal secuenciamiento de órdenes dentro de las líneas de producción. Estas incertidumbres pueden deberse a errores humanos, fallas en las maquinarias, cortes energéticos, productos defectuosos, tiempos de setup indeterminados, etc. Esto lleva consigo la necesidad de modificar la planificación original, que puede haber sido objeto de optimizaciones, para dar paso a la reprogramación. Este proceso introduce varias ineficiencias dentro del sistema, lo cual termina en una incapacidad de conocer a priori la fecha real en que los pedidos estarán listos y muchas veces a no alcanzar a producir dentro de los plazos.
- ItemDiseño y modificación de molde inverso para prótesis mediante herramientas computacionales(2008) Díaz Wichmann, María Consuelo; Chiang Sánchez, Luciano Eduardo; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaHoy en día, la fabricación de órtesis y prótesis (O y P) se realiza de forma manual, moldeando el muñón con el yeso para crear un molde positivo de éste, el que luego se modifica manualmente para crear el molde inverso del socket. En países más desarrollados, son utilizados software CAD (Computer Aided Design) que permiten realizar el diseño de este molde inverso mediante herramientas computacionales. El uso de software de CAD para el diseño de socket de CyP permite por un lado reducir los tiempos de toma de molde y de diseño, además de ahorrar material y una alta capacidad de almacenamiento de datos. Sin embargo, una de las desventajas es que el proceso se ve despersonalizado al trabajar con librerías de moldes predefinidas previamente los que son ajustados a las dimensiones del paciente. El objetivo de este trabajo fue crear un algoritmo que permitiera modificar el molde digitalizado del paciente en cualquier punto y con la forma que el usuario escoja entregando una mayor libertad en el diseño del socket.
- ItemLiderazgo : análisis por género en la relación jefe-subordinado(2008) Osses Moraga, Carolina Andrea; Majluf S., Nicolás; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaEl objetivo de la investigación es: 1) identificar las principales diferencias y similitudes que presentan hombres y mujeres en el liderazgo según el modelo de rango completo, considerando la influencia de la interacción de género de jefe y subordinado; 2) comparar el liderazgo de jefes chilenos y extranjeros; y 3) identificar el impacto que provoca en los subalternos el liderazgo de una mujer respecto al de un hombre. Se realizan tres estudios: en los dos primeros se evalúan las diferencias estandarizadas entre muestras de hombres y mujeres para distintas interacciones de género de jefe y subordinado, identificando las principales similitudes y diferencias. En el tercero se construye una regresión lineal con los estilos de liderazgo de los jefes de ambos géneros sobre el efecto en los subordinados, determinando el cambio introducido por el liderazgo de una mujer respecto al de un hombre.
- ItemDesarrollo y aplicación de un modelo dinámico de pricing para productos sustitutos, con revisiones periódicas, bajo consideraciones de valor residual(2008) Tirapegui Rojas, Pedro Daniel; Ferrer Ortiz, Juan Carlos; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaEsta investigación estudia el problema de determinación periódica de precios para productos sustitutos con consideraciones de valor residual que efectúa un retailer monopolista. Se desarrolla un modelo de programación dinámica definido por el inventario disponible al inicio de cada período. La llegada de clientes a la tienda se modela como un proceso de Poisson homogéneo y la elección es modelada con el modelo Logit Multinomial. Se caracterizan algunas soluciones relacionadas con la trayectoria de los precios cuando existen modificaciones tanto de inventarios como de la valoración que tengan los clientes de los productos. En las primeras se encontró que en un momento dado: i) el precio óptimo de un producto alcanza un límite asintótico a medida que las unidades del sustituto aumentan a infinito, ii) el precio óptimo de un producto es una función no creciente de su propio inventario, iii) el beneficio del retailer es una función no decreciente del inventario pero con incrementos decrecientes. Para las segundas, se compara con el modelo de Bitran y Mondschein modificado [BMM], obteniéndose algunas relaciones con el inventario de los productos. Se desarrolla una modelación del valor residual variable que depende de los eventos ocurridos en la temporada de venta a través del nivel de inventarios de ambos productos. Altos niveles de inventario afectan negativamente el valor residual pero con distinto impacto según se trate del mismo producto o del sustituto. Finalmente se aplica el modelo a un caso real, obteniéndose mejoras en el beneficio (al menos un 36,9% en la temporada y un 21,9% con el inventario remanente).
- ItemDesarrollo de inversiones en mercados eléctricos oligopólicos(2008) González Aguirre, José Manuel; Rudnick Van de Wyngard, Henry; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaEn este trabajo se formula y analiza, mediante la utilización de teoría de juegos, una representación simplificada de un mercado liberalizado de generación eléctrica, con la finalidad de poder caracterizar la operación de dicho mercado y las condiciones de desarrollo de nuevas inversiones en generación, centrándose en el escenario al cual se enfrentan potenciales entrantes en un mercado oligopólico. Para lograr esto, se desarrolla un modelo basado en el equilibrio de Cournot, donde las empresas deciden de forma competitiva tanto su cantidad de energía generada como las inversiones en capacidad. La metodología de solución empleada resuelve el problema de maximización de beneficios de cada una de las empresas, los que se encuentran interrelacionados mediante la función inversa de la demanda y la función de pago por potencia. Esto da como resultado un problema No-Lineal Complementario que es implementado mediante la herramienta de modelación GAMS y resuelto utilizando el solver PATH.
- ItemWind energy generation feasibility on the Northern Interconnected System (SING)(2008) Pavez Ovalle, Mario A.; Rudnick Van de Wyngard, Henry; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaEsta tesis tiene como objetivo analizar la factibilidad de instalación de tecnologías renovables, específicamente la incorporación de energías eólicas en el Sistema Interconectado del Norte Grande (SING). Para alcanzar dicho objetivo se modifica un modelo de simulación de sistemas eléctricos para la incorporación de generación con energías renovables no convencionales (ERNC). Asimismo, se propone una metodología de cálculo de esquema de pago por potencia para centrales eólicas en su incorporación en el SING y se desarrolla una metodología generalizada de desplazo de emisiones para ERNC, y aplicación de ésta para centrales eólicas. Luego se realiza un análisis de factibilidad económica de inversión en generación eólica en el SING y en seguida se analiza la aplicabilidad de las modificaciones realizadas a la ley eléctrica en el contexto de ERNC.
- ItemPolíticas de pricing óptimas para empresas que enfrentan consumidores estratégicos(2008) Valenzuela Zanocco, Francisca Andrea; Ferrer Ortiz, Juan Carlos; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Escuela de IngenieríaEste trabajo estudia políticas de precios óptimas para empresas monopolistas que enfrentan una demanda agregada incierta formada por consumidores estratégicos. Se desarrolló un modelo de pricing suponiendo que los consumidores consideran dos aspectos al tomar sus decisiones de compra: que su valoración decae en el tiempo y que existe una probabilidad de no encontrar el producto en el futuro. Se mostró que si los consumidores están muy dispuestos a postergar sus compras, mientras más profundos son los descuentos que se aplican sobre los precios, mayor es el precio que debe fijar la empresa al comienzo del horizonte de planeación. Por el contrario, cuando los consumidores están menos dispuestos a esperar, los precios que fija el modelo son más bajos para aumentar la probabilidad de que el inventario se venda durante los primeros períodos y que los descuentos más grandes nunca se lleven a cabo. Los resultados fueron comparados con los de un modelo de referencia en que los consumidores son miopes. Se determinó que la demanda total por el producto durante toda la temporada de venta es mayor cuando los consumidores son estratégicos. A través de experimentos numéricos se encontró que una empresa que asume incorrectamente que sus consumidores son miopes, cuando éstos son estratégicos en sus decisiones de compra puede percibir pérdidas importantes en sus ingresos. El mayor impacto se manifiesta en compañías que aplican grandes descuentos, manejan poco inventario, y se enfrentan a clientes cuyas valoraciones decaen lentamente y estiman que la probabilidad de quiebres de inventario es baja.
