dc.description.abstractThe following text articulates from an unpublished source found at the Bolivian archives and then transcribed here. The document helps in the description of the Atacama zone during the nineteenth century, in the specific context of concern among the new born Chilean and Bolivian republics to get knowledge of their territory. The document sheds light on the descriptive canon of the period, dialoguing with other documents of the same nature, as well as giving new data.
