dc.description.abstractThis article examines the magazines Cultura china and Capricornio, pioneering publications that, during the 1950s and 1960s, focused on "New China" and emerged as cultural mediators between China and Argentina, and, by extension, Latin America. This, while relations between China and the Soviet Union deteriorated and before the beginning of the Cultural Revolution. Unlike other studies which focus on the international advance of Maoism, we aim to explore the role assigned to culture, literature, theater and the arts in general, based on the hypothesis that, through these first contacts, a basis for future commercial links was being created, thus hinting at an alternative geopolitical order with a provincialized Europe.
